Minister Sharon White

Minister White is an Associate Minister of The First African Baptist Church of Darby Township, PA serving under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Richard A. Dent.  She is the Director of Sunday School and Children’s Church.  She has also taught workshops for the Women’s Ministry, including the development & instruction of a Bible Bootcamp Program and Family Bible Study.  Prior to her prayerful submission to God’s Divine move to First African, Minister White served faithfully for 27 years at Sharon Baptist Church of Philadelphia, PA, under the leadership of Bishop Keith W. Reed, Sr.  

While at Sharon Baptist Minister White served in ministry in the following capacities: 

  • Director of “Empowerment Hour” (Sunday School) for which she was responsible for the full operation including strategic planning, curriculum design, the hiring, training, and the skill development of all new instructors. She also developed a screening and evaluative process for new instructors and created training programs for all instructors. 
  • Instructor in the Sharon Baptist Bible Institute (SBBI) for which she taught the following courses: “Introduction to the Bible”, The Book of Esther. “How to Study the Bible”, Bad Girls of the Bible” and “The Names of God”.
  • Staff member & instructor for the Women of Grace Women’s Ministry, which also includes teaching courses such as “Developing Your Personal Relationship with The Lord Through His Word”, a 4 part series on intimacy with God and “Single to Serve” to name a few.
  • Administrative support to the Pastors for the Associate Ministers’ Ministry.
  • Hospitality Ministry – member
Additionally, Minister White is the founder and facilitator of

The WOW (Women of Word and Wisdom) Bookclub

, a monthly nondenominational group started in March 2011 and comprised of women from various churches. 

Minister White received her certification as a Biblical Counselor through The Christian Research and Development Institute in Philadelphia.  She also received certificates of completion for Evangelism through Coral Ridge Evangelism Explosion Program as well as The Bible Training for Church Leaders from the Bible Training Center for Pastors (2 1/2 year training program) at Aldan Union Church on January 18, 2015.  She is currently enrolled in The Princeton Seminary Online Certificate in Theology and Ministry Program. 

Professionally, Minister White is a licensed clinical social worker and is the Program Director for geriatric mobile services at NHS Human Services of Delaware County.  She holds a BSW from Eastern College and a Master of Social Service degree from Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work & Social Research.  She serves on numerous professional boards in the aging & mental health field and has conducted numerous workshops and presentations on a variety of topics including cultural diversity, mental health, depression, aging, etc.  Min. White is past adjunct professor in the social work department at Eastern University.   She is a certified trainer for “Mental Health First Aid” (an international training program that focuses on educating and preparing non-professionals for assisting people who have mental health issues) for both Adults and Older Adults modules.
 
 
She is an anointed preacher, teacher, motivational speaker and workshop presenter!  Her passion is preaching and teaching the Word of God and ministering to His people! 
In considering what it takes to fulfill one’s God ordained purpose her personal mantra is “it starts with yes”!
Her Life verses are Lamentations 3:22 & 23, understanding very well that God’s mercies and faithfulness are unmatched and Phil 1:6, knowing that God isn’t through with her yet!
